The Greatest Gift

The Greatest Gift

Tis the season

not to forget

the less fortunate,

the homeless,

the lonely,

those who have so little.

Share your good cheer,

your bounty,

your smiles aglow.

Give generously:

a warm coat

for the cold,

a slice of meat

for the hungry,

a toy

for a child

Tis better to give than to receive.

The greatest gifts:

the light

 in tired eyes,

a laugh

 in a forlorn mouth,

the validation to a stranger that

they are a person too

The appreciation and hope

given to another

is the most wonderful

of all

I love this poem because I think that’s exactly what Christmas/holiday spirit is about. Giving to others while celebrating with loved ones! Do not forget about others and their needs.
