Six Sentence Sunday August 12

Yea! It’s Sunday and time for Six Sentence Sunday

Every week participants post six sentences from something they are writing – or have written. It’s a lot of fun and really a great way to meet new writers!

And I’ve met some terrific people. Thank you !

Be sure to check out the other great participants and thanks so much for stopping by.

For this week I’m skipping to the beginning of chapter two, just because I got a giggle out of it and hope you do also. The first speaker is Phoebe.

“Sweetie you drive too fast. Just because you’re immortal doesn’t mean the other drivers are.”

Gideon reluctantly slowed down.

Out of the corner of his eye he glanced at Phoebe whose knuckles had returned to their normal colour, and her hands no longer clutched the arm rest.

The blowing wind from the open BMW’s windows ruffled her hair into a wild, sexy mass of curls. With the reduced speed his voice was not lost in the whistling air.

(that last line seems unclear. He’s about to ask her a question.)

  1. Jessica Subject says:

I like that she is able to make him slow down. Some guys would laugh it off.

  2. Carrie Crain says:

I felt the wind in my hair too, and thought I was in the BMW with them. Good descriptions!

  3. K.E. Saxon says:

Funny! I like the chemistry between these two in this scene. Great six!

  4. Cara Bristol says:

Nice scene and interaction between the two of them.

  5. Interesting 6, Sue, wonder what he’s going to ask 🙂

  6. Jenna Jaxon says:

Somehow calling the devil’s agent “sweetie” just sounds wrong–but so right for Phoebe! It gives instant insight into their relationship and into Phoebe’s character. Loved her observation that other drivers weren’t immortal too. This is going to be such a fun read, can’t wait for it to be completed!

  7. Mae Clair says:

That’s delightful! I love that he actually listens to her and her quip at him is so perfect. This was a lot of fun, Sue!

  8. J.M. Blackman says:

I love her consideration of others and his consideration of her thoughts and feelings. The detail about the wind was wonderful.

  9. lol loved that opening line!

  10. That was fun….but I’m dying to know what his question is!

  15. Silver says:

Made me giggle, too! LOVED the first line and you showed the white knuckles instead of telling. Well done! Now I want to know what the question is…. Fun six!

  16. Ryan Derham says:

Fun scene and nice chemistry between them! I’m interested to know what he’s gonna ask her.

  17. and now we have to wait to find out what he’s asking!

  18. J.A. Beard says:

I like how this reflects the influence she has. I mean he could just say, “Who cares?” yet he didn’t.

Aw come on say something....
