Six Sentence Sunday Nov 11

Yea! It’s Sunday and time for Six Sentence Sunday

Every week participants post six sentences from something they are writing – or have written. It’s a lot of fun and really a great way to meet new writers!

And I’ve met some terrific people. Thank you !

Be sure to check out the other great participants and thanks so much for stopping by.

The Misfits is a group of four couples, consisting of four who work as part of the mid-management team for the devil, Mr.D, as soul collectors, and their partners, who are human.

Set up This is from chapter 4 the last one I drafted before starting NaNo where I hope to write the meat of the piece. It’s the evening of the first day Gideon and Phoebe met at an accident scene. Later he asked her out for dinner  In Nineteen Hundred he had not told Kathryn what he was and dire consequences resulted.

Continuing from last week

“Gideon what’s wrong?” Phoebe placed her hand over his on the glass.

“Your fingers are twirling that wineglass so rapidly, I’ve never seen anyone do that with such speed. The wine appears ready to slosh out. If you keep that up I’m afraid the glass will fall onto the cloth and shatter.

You told me this afternoon you are an agent of the devil, and earlier you acted with boldness and aplomb but when I look at you now all I see is a man with a very worried expression on his face, eyes unfocussed, slouched over in his seat and you turn pale with chills and then red with sweat.”

  1. Carrie Crain says:

Something is so about to happen! Or, maybe something happened to him earlier with his “boss.” You’ve got my head’s wheels spinning with curiosity!

  2. Heather Boyd says:

Hmm, very interesting six. Looking forward to next week’s six.

  3. Jessica Subject says:

I’m wondering what’s wrong as well. Nice build up. 🙂

  4. Gemma Parkes says:

Very obvious signs that something is bothering him! Well described, l loved it!

  5. Wonderful details and rising tension to show his worry.

  6. Gem Sivad says:

Whatever’s wrong, it doesn’t bode well. Let’s not forget who he works for. @_@

  7. The tension is rising. Very good Six. Can’t wait to see next week. 🙂

  8. Elin Gregory says:

That’s interesting. Her speech patterns are sliding a teensy bit into the nineteenth century. Is she channelling Kathryn? Lots of foreshadowing in this six. Great hook.

  9. The contrast between Gideon spinning the wine glass so fast and Phoebe speaking so slow is interesting.

  10. Well, that’s a big, dark set-up 🙂

  11. Paula Martin says:

Intriguing six. He’s obviously got a real problem!

  12. Vivien Dean says:

Her dialogue makes it incredibly easy to visualize what’s going on. Thanks for sharing!

  13. Jenna Jaxon says:

He’s definitely upset–and with good reason considering the revelation last week. But I’m fascinated by her calm acceptance of his confession to being the devil’s agent. Sounds like she should be just as freaked out! Intriguing six!

  14. Dee Carney says:

She has some great observation and insight of him.

  15. Eleri Stone says:

I like how concerned she is for him.

  16. Something’s about to happen. Interesting, well paced six. I quite enjoyed it. I’m also jealous that your NaNo is so polished. You’re doing a great job 🙂

  17. Lots of information here. Interested to see what comes next!

  18. I need to backtrack to last week 😉

  19. Intriguing six! Interesting that she calls him on this to try to get him to reveal what’s on his mind. Curious to see how he reacts. 🙂

Aw come on say something....
