Yea! It’s Sunday and time for Six Sentence Sunday
Every week participants post six sentences from something they are writing – or have written. It’s a lot of fun and really a great way to meet new writers!
And I’ve met some terrific people. Thank you !
Be sure to check out the other great participants and thanks so much for stopping by.
Kathryn is writing home to her family in Canada. Her opinion of Mr. Thomas will be shown, eventually. I will say, this scene is a foreshadow.
Dear Mama.
I can tell her about the special dinner on New Year’s Eve; and discuss the weather, my work and the students.
Imagine! A new century. Who knows what the future will bring?
She thought this chair was really too small to sit in comfortably and the straw seat dug into her, right through the delicate fabric of the sleeping gown.
(yes yes next week… :D)
Hopefully the future will bring a new chair. That does not seem comfortable for writing a letter. Nice six! 🙂
😀 that’s funny
I like how you bring in what she’s wearing and how the chair made her feel. Perhaps, writing the letter is making her uncomfortable — and not so much straw seat? Pretty!
Perhaps yes you are correct
We want more! We want more! LOL
Nice detail work with the chair and the sleeping gown. 🙂
Patience patience
Your detailing is perfect. I can see every scene. Lovely work.
Thank you Gem
Nice detail. It does seem that her life is about to get topsy-turvy.
Yes…and no
I echo all the comments above! Absolutely magnificent work!
much appreciated Alix
Great imagery!
thank you
Oh, Chick-a-dee. What a tease you are, LOL! I have a feeling her discomfort on that chair is due to a little sexual attraction she hasn’t the understanding of the signs of, LOL! Great six.
that’s true she prob doesn’t 😀
Another teasing six! LOL. Hmmm…what will the future hold? 🙂
I ain’t telling
Hope she does something fun in the new century 🙂
she might, or not
I love the way her mind works, Sue. And you are a tease! Can’t wait for next week’s six.
Guess you’ll have to babe
You’re such a tease 😉 Can’t wait to read what she says about him…
she has several things to say…
Excellent details, shown from her perspective.
Thanks Paula
You have wonderful descriptions! I feel like I’m in that room and that very uncomfortable chair with her. 🙂
It’s hardly big enough for one…
Mama’s not going to get the real scoop! 🙂 Love the way you portray her inability to focus.
Had t laugh at this – mama gets mentioned later
Oh, the discomfort of a caned chair! I know it well. Nice time period appropriate description. 🙂
Gather you have one too – thank you for the visit
I love the descriptions of the tight chair.
Thank you Carrie
I love her excitement and awe at the new century.
Yes – just like 2000 😀
It’s always difficult to write to Mama when you have secrets you don’t want to reveal. And though she may eventually describe Mr. Thomas to her mother, I bet she won’t tell all. 🙂 The weather was always such a popular topic, both for writing and for polite conversation. It was safe and always available. LOL Great six!
Thanks Jenna. You’ll know soon enough
Is it the chair or excitement making her restless. Great six.
Well the chair is uncomfortable…
You are so wicked, to keep us waiting for more like this… 🙂
Yep 😀
ha ha! evil woman dragging it out!
been taught by the best lol
She’s avoiding getting around to the subject at hand but it’s so nicely done. I especially like her thought about “a new century.” The newness and excitment of that is contagious. And then, of course, there’s “HIM” just waiting to be addressed. Very nice!
Thank you for the lovely comment 😀
I’ve always thought the tactile details you used were so effective–such is the case with this six. It’s also very telling that your character is thinking of what to write besides her new interest.
What a nice comment! I always look forward to your visit
